Agency suspends pilot and flight attendant certification tests and cancels aircraft certification actions
The (National Civil Aviation Agency) announced this Monday (June 1, 2026) that it will cut 40% of inspections of airlines, flying clubs, mechanical workshops and parts manufacturers. According to the agency, the measure is a consequence of the blockage of R$24 million in the agency’s budget determined by Decree 12,990, signed by the federal government on Friday (May 29, 2026).
According to Anac, the contingency will cause the immediate suspension of all certification tests for pilots and flight attendants and the dismissal of outsourced employees. All aircraft shares and investments in information technology will also be halted.
Furthermore, Anac canceled institutional events aimed at improving operational safety in the airline sector. The participation of civil servants in international forums and events in which Anac represents Brazil has been suspended.
Anac said it expects the value block to be reviewed by the government to “avoid direct impacts on the operational safety of the national aviation sector“.
There is no information on when the budget blockage may be reversed. The number of outsourced workers who will be terminated was not disclosed. The volume of investments in information technology that will be interrupted was also not reported.
