Allies of the president () are trying to use the term “Tariflávio” on social media this Tuesday (2) to associate the senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency () with the conclusion of the commercial investigation against Brazilian products.
The government’s publications seek to compare the meeting between Lula at the beginning of May, in which it was decided that , and Flávio’s meeting with the American last week, which was followed by the classification of CV (Comando Vermelho) and PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) and now by the tariff.
as to Sheetthe Brazilian government intends to maintain negotiations with the USA and sees the chance of avoiding the imposition of the fees suggested by the USTR (Office of the US Trade Representative) while trying to maximize the attrition of Flávio, Lula’s main opponent in the October elections, as much as possible.
The implementation of this strategy can already be seen in posts on social media. The PT’s national secretary of Communication, Éden Valadares, for example, stated that the Americans’ tariff suggestion “has a name: Tarifaço, Flávio, Tariflávio”.
“President Lula went to the USA to defend Brazil and our economy. Bolsonaro’s son went to defend his own family, betrayed the country and from then on things only got worse”, wrote the PT member on X (former Twitter).
Former Minister of Agrarian Development (PT) also used the term when stating that the former president’s children (PL) ask Trump for help and try to “sabotage Brazil to free their father and take revenge for the failed coup attempt”.
Federal deputy Carlos Zarattini (PL-SP) said that “Tariflávio” was stimulated by the coordination of the Bolsonaro clan in the United States.
According to him, the measure does not affect Lula, but rather “the Brazilian economy, national companies, workers and jobs that depend on exports to the American market.”
The former deputy (PT) stated that this is the first time that a presidential candidate “has positioned himself so openly against the Brazilian people, in favor of a foreign nation”.
“TARIFLÁVIO would end PIX to please Trump, just as he promised to deliver rare earths. But our president is Lula and PIX IS OURS, and will never stop being so.”
On the agenda in Belo Horizonte, Flávio Bolsonaro asked the president of the United States not to apply a tariff on Brazilian companies.
He declared that the measure announced by the American government this Tuesday was retaliation against Lula.
“[Eu pedi] ‘please don’t tax Brazilian companies’, but today we have someone sitting in the president’s chair who simply managed to gain the distrust of the American government. They don’t trust Lula because he leaves there asking first not to fight criminal factions”, said Flávio in an interview with Itatiaia radio.
