Director Adam Marcus harshly criticized actor Val Kilmer. He called him the worst person he knew. He said so in a post on the Threads social network, which he later deleted.
Marcus worked with Kilmer on the 2008 action thriller Secret Deal. In it, the actor played an Iraq war veteran who tries to explain the mysterious disappearance of his friend. However, according to the director, the collaboration was not pleasant.
“#MicroIntellectMonday to the time I directed this guy. The one who played Iceman and Doc Holliday. You know who I mean. Here’s me and that idiot at work on the set of The Secret Deal,” Marcus wrote in his post. At the same time, the director rejected the opinion that the deceased should not be talked about negatively.
“And to all those who turn their eyes to the pillar because of the talk about the dead not to be spoken ill of, I hate it. If he did even a tenth of what he did on my set today, he’d be out in no time. The worst person I have ever known. And that already means something,” Marcus added.
Kilmer, who died in April 2025 at the age of sixty-five, has faced criticism from directors before. Joel Schumacher, who directed Batman Forever, called him “childish and impossible” in 1996 and described him as a “mentally disturbed person”.
Also, director John Frankenheimer, after completing the film The Island of Dr. Moreau from 1996, stated that already he will never work with Kilmer.
