An intercity bus that broke down at kilometer 5,200 of the Bus-HOV of the A-6, heading into Madrid and in the vicinity of Moncloa-Aravaca, has unleashed traffic chaos this morning in one of the main access arteries to the capital. The incident, recorded around 7:30, has caused delays of up to three kilometers and has complicated the arrival of hundreds of students in the . The vehicle could not be removed until around 9:00, but traffic remained very limited for more than an hour, generating widespread delays in traffic. Among those affected, numerous students heading to exams have seen their attendance in jeopardy after months of preparation. The incident has forced the organizing commission – which coordinates the process between the six public universities in Madrid – to activate exceptional measures to avoid further damage.
Specifically, access to classrooms has been allowed until 10:00, thus extending the entry window for affected students. Those who have managed to join on time have been able to take the exam with a tight duration, until 11:30. The academic organization has reminded that “in no case will the duration of the test exceed 90 minutes, plus the corresponding additional time for adaptation, if applicable.”
Likewise, in the exam centers of the Community of Madrid it has been established that no student could leave the classroom before 10:15. Students who have not been able to arrive within the established margin must take the test this Friday, in the call for incidents and coincidences. The episode has once again highlighted the vulnerability of access traffic to Madrid at peak times, especially when road incidents coincide with events of high logistical demand.
