The Russian president was informed of the Ukrainian president’s overture, the Kremlin spokesman told the Izvestia news website today.
“Yes, during the night we already delivered the written version to Putin. What came from the media went to the president and he looked into it. The president has been informed,” Peskov said.
Awaiting Putin’s speech at the St. Petersburg Forum
Zelensky released his open letter to Putin yesterday, Thursday, in which he suggests the two leaders meet to agree on an end to the war, warning that otherwise Kiev is ready to continue fighting. In his letter, the Ukrainian president also claims that Russians are tired of both Putin and the war.
Peskov said it was highly likely that Putin would comment on the letter during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech this afternoon.
