This Sunday (7), Brazil ended its participation in the Pan-American Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, in Rio de Janeiro, with medals in all apparatus finals. Geovanna Santos won two golds, in the archery and ribbon competitions, while Bárbara Domingos and Maria Eduarda Alexandre also took the podium and expanded the Brazilian team’s medal collection in the competition.
Geovanna, known as Jojo, opened the day with the title in the bow. The Brazilian presented a consistent series and received 28,950 points, improving the grade obtained in the qualifiers. Brazil also did a double in the race with Bárbara Domingos, who ended up with the silver medal after scoring 28,600 points. The bronze went to North American Megan Chu.
In the ball final, Maria Eduarda Alexandre won the silver medal with 26,700 points. Bárbara Domingos was close behind, with 26,600, guaranteeing bronze for Brazil. The winner of the event was Megan Chu, from the United States.
Bárbara returned to the top of the podium in the apple dispute. Current individual all-around champion, the gymnast reached 29,000 points and secured the gold medal. Maria Eduarda Alexandre completed another Brazilian double by taking silver, totaling 28,600. Megan Chu took bronze.
The last final of the day was the ribbon, and again Brazil was among the highlights. Jojo won his second gold after receiving 28,400 points. Bárbara Domingos ended the competition with another medal, this time bronze, with a score of 28.250. Silver went to Megan Chu.
With this Sunday’s results, Geovanna Santos ended the Pan-American Championship with two titles in the apparatus finals. Maria Eduarda Alexandre won two silver medals, while Bárbara Domingos was the most present Brazilian on the podium, with four medals: gold in clubs, silver in archery and bronze in ball and ribbon.
