Pyongyang is not a stone’s throw from Beijing, but it is not out of the world either: Xi Jinping could have taken the train to visit his North Korean neighbor. However, the Chinese president opted for a special aircraft with which he arrived at the airport in the North Korean capital on Monday. He was received there by ruler Kim Jong-un himself; after all, China is by far North Korea’s largest trading partner.
