In a statement, A announced the acquisition of Leprino Foods’ operations in Brazil, through the purchase of Lactojara Laticínios. The operation involves the Brazilian subsidiary of North American Leprino Foods, a global leader in the production of mozzarella cheese and a supplier of cheese and dairy ingredients for the out-of-home food sector.
With the acquisition, Catupiry seeks to strengthen a portfolio that already includes more than 130 products and accelerate its growth strategy in categories with higher added value, according to the company in a statement.
The completion of the transaction still depends on the approval of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade). The transaction values were not disclosed.
“We are combining Catupiry’s tradition and innovation with the expertise of a world leader in mozzarella. This is a strategic step that gives us the production muscle necessary to continue strengthening our portfolio of more than 130 products in the market”, said the company’s executive director, Andrea Areal, in the note.
In addition to expanding the portfolio, the acquisition adds a new industrial plant to the company’s structure. Founded in the United States and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Leprino Foods is considered the world’s largest producer of mozzarella cheese and operates in more than 79 countries.
The company employs more than 5 thousand people and also produces dairy ingredients such as whey protein, lactose and micellar casein.
