The leader of the PT in the Chamber of Deputies, Pedro Uczai (SC), presented a request to the Federal Police to open a police investigation against Karina Ferreira da Gama, managing partner of the company Go Up Entertainment, involved in the production of the film “Dark Horse”, a biopic of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The PT member calls for an investigation into “a possible interstate scheme of diversion of public and parafiscal resources of federal interest, overbilling, false documents, use of shell companies, money laundering and criminal association involving the Instituto Saber Brasil (ICB)”, a legal entity chaired by Gama.
PT leader mentions website report The Intercept Brazil on Monday, 8th, which says that the ICB had acted as a front entity to drain resources from System S, according to audits by the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU).
The portal says that, between 2017 and 2018, the National Council of Social Service for Industry (CN-Sesi) transferred around R$11 million to the organization, to hold the Citizenship Fair in seven Brazilian states, in addition to Formula Truck Kids, in the Federal District, and that at least R$2.4 million was overbilled. The report from the Intercept said it was not answered by Gama.
O Estadão also showed on June 1st that the producer’s non-governmental organization (NGO) is being charged by the courts to return R$1.3 million from a sponsorship carried out irregularly in 2017, in a lawsuit filed by CN-Sesi. The ICB also did not comment on the case.
“The facts narrated could be shaped, in theory, to crimes against public or parafiscal assets, especially if the obtaining of an illicit advantage through fraud, overbilling, false invoices, fictitious deliveries and simulated accountability is confirmed”, says the piece presented by Uczai.
“The possible practice of embezzlement or appropriation of public resources by private individuals in competition with agents responsible for releasing, monitoring or approving transfers must also be investigated,” he adds. The news in fact also points to the need to investigate the commission of ideological falsehood.
