Motta repeats PEC and appoints Leo Prates as rapporteur of the 6 X 1 PL

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), appointed this Thursday (June 11, 2026) deputy Leo Prates (Republicanos-BA) to report on the Executive’s bill that ends the 6 X 1 scale.

Prates was the rapporteur of the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) which deals with the same topic – approved in the Chamber on May 27th. According to Motta, the same text that has already been discussed by deputies will be maintained.

The President of the Chamber put the Executive’s project to work to unlock the Chamber’s agenda. As the PL was sent by the government on an urgent basis, the House had until April 30 to approve the proposal. As the deadline has expired, nothing else can be voted on.

“The objective is to unlock the House’s agenda so that we can move forward on other relevant matters, such as the AI Legal Framework and the increase in the MEI revenue limit”wrote Motta.

PEC IS IN THE SENATE

Planalto wants to approve the text before the elections. However, the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), holds the proposal. The PEC has been in the Upper House since May 28 and is still awaiting a decision on whether to forward it to the Constitution and Justice Commission.

The proposal reduces the maximum weekly working hours from 44 hours to 40 hours and establishes two paid days off per week. The text replaces the 6 X 1 scale with the 5 X 2 model. In the Chamber, the PEC was approved in 2 rounds: 472 votes to 22 in the 1st round and 461 to 19 in the 2nd.

The government leader in Congress, the senator (PT-AP), on Tuesday (June 9) that the PEC should be sent to the CCJ next week. According to him, the expectation is that the text will only be processed by a committee before going to the plenary.
