Tereza Cristina: We are open to government ideas for rural debt projects

Senator Tereza Cristina (PP-MS), linked to the agriculture bench, stated this Wednesday, 10th, that the group remains willing to talk to the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) about the rural debt renegotiation project. The text was approved by the Senate plenary and is now subject to further analysis by the Chamber of Deputies.

“We will be open to listening to the government’s suggestions and being able to take new steps, if necessary,” said the senator during a Senate session.

The project was voted on without agreement with the economic team. Parliamentarians stated that they will continue the dialogue before the vote in the Chamber. According to the senator, the Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, “presented an effort to renegotiate rural debts”.

“We have to approve this project today. And if adjustments come from the government, they will be very welcome. I’m sure the government doesn’t want the Brazilian dish to be more expensive. It doesn’t want food inflation, but, if we don’t do this at this moment, we will have food inflation and the population will have to pay more in supermarkets”, continued Tereza.
