The train collided with a person on Thursday (June 11) shortly before 6:00 p.m. between the Ťahanovský tunnel and the railway station Košice – Ťahanovce. The person who was hit succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital. Košice regional police spokeswoman Lenka Ivanová informed TASR about this.
Train Ex 619 Tatran was heading to Košice on the track. “Despite the use of quick braking and a warning sound, the driver was unable to prevent the collision, he hit the person and after the impact he was thrown into the middle of the track. The injuries that the person suffered after the impact required immediate transportation to the hospital, but he succumbed to them in the hospital shortly after 7:00 p.m.,” said the spokeswoman.
They started a criminal prosecution in the case for the crime of bodily harm, due to the death of the person, a change of legal qualification is not excluded. “Due to the sensitivity of the case and out of respect for the survivors, we will not provide more detailed information,” added Ivanova.
