The president of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), Minister Edson Fachin, established a study group at the Court on the modernization of the Brazilian Justice system. The idea is to identify good national and international practices to formulate proposals to strengthen the institutions of the Judiciary.
The group was created through an ordinance published on Thursday (11). The activities will be carried out within the scope of the Supreme Court’s Center for Constitutional Studies, an entity created in 2025 with the aim of promoting a discussion about the Brazilian legal reality.
The team will be chaired by the center director, Fernando Facury Scaff, who is coordinator of the Advisory Council of the CNJ (National Council of Justice). The rapporteur will be the judge Ney Bellofrom TRF-1 (Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region).
Also part of the group’s composition is the minister Mauro Campbell, of the STJ (Superior Court of Justice). In addition to the authorities, law professors and jurists from different bodies of the Justice system will also participate.
The group will have a consultative and academic nature and will serve to systematize experiences.
Topics such as judicial governance, institutional innovation, digital transformation, jurisdictional efficiency, procedural rationalization, cooperation between institutions, access to justice and strengthening public trust in republican institutions should be discussed.
