The federal government authorized public servants to leave work up to three hours early on game days for the Brazilian team at the 2026 World Cup.
The measure, published in Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) on Wednesday, the 9th, establishes that the hours missed from work will have to be compensated, and the bodies are obliged to remain in operation during the games.
The standard covers public servants, public employees, temporary contractors and interns working in direct, autonomous and foundational federal public administration. Outsourced workers also benefited.
Departure times vary depending on the start of each match.
In games scheduled for 2pm, absence is permitted from 11am; for games at 4pm, from 1pm; at 5pm, from 2pm; at 6pm, from 3pm; and 7 p.m. from 4 p.m.
For night matches, the rule applies to those who have working hours that extend beyond the start time of the game: in games at 9:30 pm, departure is allowed from 6:30 pm, and in games at 10 pm, from 7 pm.
Compensation for hours not worked must be made between August 3 and September 30, 2026. Anyone who does not make up hours within the deadline will have a proportional discount on their remuneration.
