Germany’s Hamburg International Airport was hit by serious traffic complications on Friday after police had to evacuate one of the terminals due to a security incident. The whole chaos started before ten o’clock in the morning, when a stray man pressed the emergency button opening the escape exits and entered the secured zone without authorization.

“The preventive measure taken by the federal police has been completed and the passengers are going through the security check again. Air traffic is being resumed,” the spokeswoman confirmed.
“However, there will be delays throughout the day, some of them will be significant. Several flights will be canceled,” she added, without specifying the exact number of canceled flights.
The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m. CET, when a man pressed the emergency button that opens the escape exits and thus gained unauthorized access to the security zone, a spokesman for the federal police announced. According to him, the man probably just got lost.
