At the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine, Kiev will ask its allies for an additional 20 billion dollars to finance military expenditures. This was revealed to Reuters by a source from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The goal of Kyiv is to consolidate its current advantageous position on the battlefield, reports Reuters.

Ukrainian officials will make the request next Thursday at a meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine, also known as the Ramstein format. There are more than 50 allies of Kyiv in the grouping, and the meetings serve to coordinate military and financial aid for the attacked country.

Kiev will ask some allies to contribute between two and six billion dollars. A total of 20 billion could consist of aid supplies or loans.
“We have a six-to-nine-month time window on the battlefield that requires an accelerated increase in funding,” the source said.
Reuters recalls that the advance of Russian forces has slowed this year, as Ukrainian medium-range drone attacks have disrupted Russian supply and logistics routes on the frontline. Meanwhile, long-range Ukrainian drone strikes are causing difficulties for Russia’s energy sector.
