With the arrival of summer, thousands of Czechs and Slovaks once again embark on the traditional journey to the Adriatic. Even in 2026, Croatia remains one of the most popular holiday destinations for residents of both countries – they are attracted by the accessibility by car, the familiar environment and the clean sea. The highways towards the south are gradually filling up and the tourist resorts from Istria to Dalmatia are expecting a strong season.
However, many vacationers prefer a more economical way to relax. Instead of hotel packages or restaurant meals, they choose apartments with a kitchen, shop in local supermarkets and cook for themselves. When visiting local shops, they are therefore interested not only in food prices, but also in drugstores. However, since Croatia switched to the euro, it seems to many Czechs and Slovaks that prices have leveled off.
