Fans who like to go to bed early will have problems if they want to watch all the World Cup games that take place in three countries: USA, Mexico and Canada.
Of the 104 matches scheduled for the competition (compared to 64 in the Cups with 32 teams), 17 are scheduled to start between 11pm and 1am Brasília time, that is, they will invade the early hours of the morning — 16 of them are in the group stage.
South Korea x Czech Republic opened the late-night proceedings, in a duel that took place at 11pm on Thursday (11), in Mexico.
And anyone who thought that Japan or New Zealand would be the most present in the Owl session of the World Cup was wrong. Türkiye, in Group G (the same as Australia), and Jordan, in Group J, are the champions of the night games.
In the third round, with games within the bracket at the same time, groups G (Belgium, New Zealand, Egypt and Iran) and J (Argentina, Algeria, Austria and Jordan) will have late night times.
The most common time for the World Cup is 4pm, with 12 matches in the first phase and another 7 in the decisive clashes, including the two semi-finals and the final. Brazil plays at 7pm (against Morocco, on Saturday, and Scotland, on 24/6) and 9:30pm (against Haiti, on 19/6).
After the first phase, only one more match is scheduled to start at midnight, between the champion of Group B (Canada, Switzerland, Qatar and Bosnia) and a third-placed team, which could come from brackets E, F, G, I or J. This match, between the 2nd and 3rd of July, will take place in Vancouver.
