Actress, former Slovak politician and diplomat Magda Vášáryová is known for the fact that she comments on the social and political situation in a straightforward way and never puts a napkin in front of her mouth. At a recent project debate, she took aim at the Czechs and blamed them for not being able to take on a leading role in our region.
“I don’t understand that the Czechs, instead of taking a leading role in Central Europe, which I think you have all the prerequisites for, because you are more educated, the richest of us, you simply have incredible people from whom you can draw from Masaryk to Patočka, Havel and so on, we don’t have that,” explained the recent holder of a doctorate in sociology.
Instead, she says, they go grow carrots on Fridays and then sit by the fire and pretend they’re in Texas. “None of us understand that. Instead of dealing with central Europe, you’re just in the saddle on the prairie hunting bison or I don’t know what. It’s so incredible. But what do we get out of it? We would need an example,” claimed Vášáryová, who, according to the website, is supposed to be worried after last year’s elections in the Czech Republic that, from her point of view, the situation will be worse than in Slovakia.
In the podcast with Josef Holý, she also talked about it and in some cases added fuel to the fire. “I am very sorry. Because we in Slovakia really needed you to be as brave in those elections as they were in Moldova, for example, who did not succumb to any propaganda and kept their president.” said the former politician and actress.
He is afraid it will get worse. “I am afraid that as I watch the Czech government and as I watch how some people I knew are adapting, that it will go quickly for you and, as I said, maybe it will be worse for you than in Slovakia. Do you know why? Because during the communist regime it was much worse for you than for us,” added Vášáryová.
For the portal, he reacted shockingly harshly to her assessment of the situation in the Czech Republic actor and voice actor Michal Gulyáš. “Magda Vášáryová has already played all her roles in life. She only has the last one left – the echo from the coffin,” he did not spare her and pointed to the Slovak star with a brutal allusion.
