He kept a clear distance from his attack in Beirut. The US president pointed out that the strikes should not have happened, especially since all sides are close to a peace agreement.
Specifically in his post he points out: “The attack that occurred this morning in Beirut should not have happened, especially on such an important day, as we are so close to a peace agreement with Iran. Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it responded to was very small-scale and insignificant; no one was injured, damaged or killed, and this should not disrupt this important process.
We are very close to an agreement that will bring peace to the region, including Lebanon, and all sides must back down. There must be no further attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there must also be no attacks from any other side, including Hezbollah, against Israel. This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace — Let’s not spoil it!”

Strong reaction from Iran
The deputy chief of Iran’s top joint military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said today that the Israelis’ “crimes” in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital will not go unanswered, according to Iranian state media.
Iranian negotiator Mohammad Baker Kalibaf said today that Israel’s attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut showed that the US either lacks the will to meet its commitments or the ability to do so.
In a post on X he said that continuing on the current course will be impossible if the commitments (that have been made) cannot be kept.
It is worth noting that, according to Axios, the Israeli armed forces informed the US Central Military Command (CENTCOM) shortly before the strike against Beirut.
What came before
Earlier, Israel’s military announced that Hezbollah had fired three missiles at communities in northern Israel. These fell near the communities of Somera and Shlomi. At the same time, in the previous days, two more missiles were launched towards the territories of Israel.
The response from the Israeli side came a little later. Israel’s military attacked Hezbollah targets in the southern suburbs of Beirut, in the group’s stronghold known as Dahiya, according to a joint statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
