Yemeni Antar Al-Absi died after falling into the crater of the Haradhat Damt volcano, in southern Yemen, during a climb carried out without safety equipment. The accident was recorded on Friday (June 12, 2026).

Known in the country for challenging rocky walls and steep terrain without protection, Al-Absi had gained thousands of followers and received the nickname Yemeni “Spider-Man” for the stunts he often performed.

REASON FOR DEATH

According to local press reports, the adventurer lost his balance while performing a maneuver on the edge of the crater, which is approximately 120 meters deep. The site is in the Damt region of Al Dhale province.

The body was removed from the crater the following day by Civil Defense rescue teams.

Antar’s performances were frequent at tourist attractions and natural formations in the country. On some of his visits to the Haradhat Damt volcano, he even left written messages on the rocky walls there.

Considered one of the main natural attractions in the region, the crater is located at the top of a mountain and is accessed by a metal structure with more than 100 steps. The municipality of Damt, where the volcano is located, has around 70 thousand inhabitants.
