First Panel of the STF judges Eduardo for his activities in the USA – 06/16/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The First Panel of the (Federal Supreme Court) begins this Tuesday (16) the trial of the action in which the former federal deputy (PL-SP) is a defendant on charges of the crime of coercion during the process and attempted abolition of the democratic rule of law.

As shown by Sheetthe tendency is for the panel – made up of (president of the Panel), (case rapporteur), and – to convict the former parliamentarian for the crimes. If confirmed, ministers must still discuss the dosimetry of the penalty.

The session is scheduled to start at 2pm.

Eduardo Bolsonaro has lived in the United States since February last year and, as he did not appoint lawyers to defend himself in court, he will be represented by the DPU (Union Public Defender’s Office). Throughout the process, the body has already defended a lack of impartiality and that the (Attorney General’s Office) “confuses political action with coercive power”.

The complaint offered by the PGR states that the son of the former president (PL) worked abroad to try to embarrass the STF and prevent his father’s conviction in the case of the coup plot. Bolsonaro was sentenced to more than 27 years in prison, and is serving his sentence under house arrest.

The session begins with the case report (summary) being read by the rapporteur. Afterwards, the PGR and the defense will speak out, which will be carried out by federal public defender Antonio Ezequiel Inácio Barbosa. Afterwards, voting is open and will take place in the following order: Moraes, Zanin, Cármen and Dino.
