The largest plant in the Moscow region processed 11.6 million tons of crude oil and produced 2.9 million tons of gasoline and 3.2 million tons of diesel in 2024, according to available data.

Images of the refinery, from which the flames are coming, were published on the social network X Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. “This time the Moscow region felt the impact of Ukrainian long-range weapons,” he wrote on the video, which you can watch at the end of the article. “Russia must be forced to end the war against our people. And Ukraine’s long-range weapons are one of the important components of such pressure,” he added.

The number of drone attacks on Russian refineries has doubled since the beginning of the year, leading to a full or partial shutdown of oil processing and a drop in gasoline, diesel and jet fuel production. This follows from official data, social networks and Reuters calculations.
