The Lamas restaurant, the oldest in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) in operation, located in Flamengo, south zone of Rio, was hit by a fire on Tuesday night (16).
According to CBMERJ (Fire Department of the state of Rio de Janeiro), the team was called at around 5:22 pm to an incident at the restaurant’s address, in the south zone of Rio.
According to authorities, there is no record of victims.
In a video published on social media, it is possible to see smoke coming from the place and the moment when the fire team surrounds the place and begins to act.

They also reported that, according to reports, the fire started in the establishment’s kitchen and they quickly controlled the situation.
Currently, the military at Catete Barracks (DBM 1/1) state that they are working in the aftermath phase, cooling the place.
Café Lamas is considered Rio’s cultural heritage, founded in 1874 on the corner of Rua do Catete and Largo do Machado, being a meeting place for the founders of the Flamengo football team club and, in the future, a place to celebrate the club’s titles.
For more than a century, it was at its original address, leaving the address due to subway works, being transferred to Rua Marquês de Abrantes, its current address.
