The PL should continue with the president of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo, André do Prado (PL), to run for the Senate, even with this Tuesday (16).
He spent four years and two months in prison under an initially semi-open regime due to coercion because he had worked in the USA to intimidate the Brazilian Judiciary and prevent the analysis of the coup plot.
The candidacy pre-launch event is scheduled for this Saturday (20), in Guarulhos. According to Prado, Eduardo should participate virtually, via video call.
“Tomorrow [quarta] Let’s talk to define what measures should be taken and it will be up to him [Eduardo] the decision whether to remain as a substitute or indicate a name. But we will appeal this unfair decision,” said Prado.
According to the president of Alesp, the court decision is unfair, given freedom of expression and parliamentary immunity. The event is expected to be attended by governor Tarcísio de Freitas, senator Flávio Bolsonaro and almost 10 thousand people.
With the conviction, Eduardo becomes a “dirty record” and will be prevented from contesting elections for up to eight years. He will also have to pay 50 fine days (worth two minimum wages each fine day) and will lose his position as Federal Police clerk, from which he has been removed. The decision can still be appealed.
