Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command officially announced the complete closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz to shipping on Saturday. With this step, Tehran responds to Saturday’s massive Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, which it called a direct violation of the recently announced memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US.
Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command announced on Saturday that it has closed the Strait of Hormuz again in response to Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon. It called these attacks a violation of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, reports TASR according to the AFP agency.
“We hereby announce that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to shipping. We emphasize that this first step is a response to the enemy’s breach of promise, and if the aggression continues, further steps will be planned and taken to force the enemy to comply with its commitments,” the Khatam al-Anbiya command said in a statement broadcast on state television.
