A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Greece at midday on Saturday. There were initially no reports of damage from the tremors off the island of Crete. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake occurred at a depth of 13 kilometers. The epicenter was 69 kilometers south-southwest of the city of Rethymno on Crete. (Reuters, June 20, 2026)
