Slovakia has had its first extremely hot day, which brought the first real tropical heat to our territory. The series of scorching days got into full swing yesterday, with the west of the country sweating the most. In Senica, Gabčíkovo, Bratislava, Moravské Svät Ján and Nitra, temperatures climbed well above +30 °C. But if you thought it was unbearable, hold on – today it’s about to get even worse, reports the website .
Record highs await us in the afternoon, but the real slap in the face for the body will come after sunset. Today’s maximum temperatures are still 2 to 3 °C higher than yesterday. Again, this is especially true of western Slovakia, where the standard temperature is around +35 °C.
However, the absolute extreme hit the residents in the south. In the districts of Komárno and Nové Zámky, the thermometer’s mercury can stop at an insane value of +37 °C! However, it will be extremely warm practically everywhere, while most of our regions will easily surpass the +30 °C mark.
Paradoxically, although we will record the highest values on the thermometers in the afternoon, in terms of the burden on the organism, it will be the most tolerable part of the day. The most important thing is the feeling temperature. And it starts to rise sharply in the evening due to the increasing air humidity. Tonight will be extremely humid throughout Slovakia. In the far west, especially in the Bratislava region, however, the air literally “condenses” and turns into a walking sauna.
And beware, this unpleasant, sticky weather will not subside even during the night and will become even worse during tomorrow. Current forecasts warn that almost the entire western Slovakia will be affected by extremely humid conditions. Emotionally, Sunday will be even more unpleasant than today’s hot afternoon.
Slovakia is facing a wave of weather that will squeeze even the last remnants of energy. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water, and if you don’t have to, don’t expose yourself to the direct sun at all during lunch!
