United States forces bombed this Friday (26) Iranian missile and drone depotsin addition to coastal radars, in response to an Iranian attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, the US Army reported.
“The unjustified aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire,” stated the United States Central Command (Centcom) on the social network X, describing the bombings against Iran as “a blunt response to yesterday’s attack on a merchant ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz“.
Centcom reported that US aircraft hit Iranian sites, in response to the attack that the country received on the ship M/V Ever Lovely on Thursday (25) with a drone. “The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was leaving the Strait of Hormuz, off the coast of Oman, at the time of the Iranian attack,” he wrote.
Furthermore, the Command assessed as a Iran’s dangerous behavior for “compromising freedom of navigation”, in relation to the commercial flow that grows with international trade.
The US military will remain present so that all aspects of the agreement with Iran are respected, Centcom reported that the country will also continue to help with all support for ships in the passage.“Centcom forces continue to coordinate safe passage and provide support to commercial vessels transiting the strait.”.
