The use of lime on bodies aims to dehydrate the tissues and control odor. It also serves to prevent the spread of diseases. The images were released this Saturday (June 27) without identifying the location.
VICTIMS
According to the President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez (Psuv, left), the most recent report indicates 1,430 victims as of Saturday night (June 27, 2026). The Venezuelan government still counts 3,238 injured, says the The Country.
The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the deaths of 6 Spaniards. Another 133 are missing.
Rescue teams found 14 people alive under the rubble, but authorities warn that the chances of rescue diminish after 48 hours of the disaster.
To date, 17 countries and the UN have sent humanitarian aid to Venezuela, which has more than 3,000 homeless people.
The earthquakes recorded on Wednesday (June 24) were the most intense ever recorded in the country in the last 100 years. in at least 4 Brazilian capitals: Belém, Manaus, Boa Vista and Macapá. According to the Brazilian Seismographic Network, there is no risk of damage in Brazilian cities.
