A strong storm hit the Romanian capital Bucharest and 20 other districts on Wednesdaycaused the death of one person and damaged dozens of houses and vehicles, local rescue officials said. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report. Only in Bucharest, where water flooded several metro stations, they recorded almost 2,000 calls for help, said the rescue service for the Romanian television station Digi24.

More than 27,000 collection points were left without electricity supplies. The storm caused damage in another 60 cities and towns. Authorities reported one victim who died after a tree fell on their vehicle. Police and firefighters intervened in several districts, evacuating flooded homes and removing debris. The storm was preceded by a heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country on Monday and Tuesday.
