A Portuguese pizzeria was considered one of the 10 best in Europe, according to the ranking that distinguishes the best European places outside Italy. The restaurant in question is in Lisbon and managed to enter the top 10 of the prestigious guide.
The distinction was given to Forno d’Oro, located in the Portuguese capital, which appears in 9th position on the European list.
The ranking excludes Italian pizzerias and evaluates establishments from several European countries where pizza is treated as quality cuisine, far from the idea of fast food.
Lisbon in the European top 10
The Forno d’Oro appears among recognized names in cities such as London, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam and Vienna.
At the top of the list was Napoli on the Road, in London, followed by Baldoria, in Madrid, and IMperfetto, in Puteaux, France.
The entry of the Lisbon pizzeria into the top 10 reinforces the growth of the gastronomic offer in Portugal and the quality of houses specializing in artisanal pizza.
Spain also highlighted
The ranking also highlighted several Spanish pizzerias. Baldoria, in Madrid, came in 2nd place, while Sartoria Panatieri, in Barcelona, reached 5th position.
If the list is extended to the top 50, Spain has seven distinguished establishments, including spaces in Madrid, Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela, Bilbao and Girona.
The best in Europe outside of Italy
Among the top 15 positions are names such as 50 Kalò, in London, Pizza Zulu, in Germany, nNea, in Amsterdam, and Via Toledo, in Vienna.
Portugal appears represented by Forno d’Oro, which managed to place Lisbon among the main European destinations for eating pizza.
The classification gains greater weight because it is a specialized ranking, focused on pizzerias outside the country where the pizza was born.
Pizza increasingly valued
In recent years, pizza is no longer seen as just a quick or informal meal.
Many pizzerias today rely on long fermentation doughs, higher quality ingredients and techniques inspired by Neapolitan tradition.
It is this evolution that helps explain the growing presence of Iberian restaurants in international rankings.
Recognition for Portugal
The presence of Forno d’Oro among the 10 best pizzerias in Europe places Portugal in a select group of destinations highlighted by the guide.
For Lisbon, the distinction represents yet another sign of the city’s strength on the European gastronomic scene.
With this classification, the Portuguese pizzeria now stands alongside some of the most recognized restaurants on the continent.
