The socialist resistance, the tendency of the minister (agrarian development) and the leader of the House, defined in a meeting of the national board held last Wednesday (2) support for the party presidency.
The trend, founded in 2018, intends to deliver Edinho a letter of support at an event in Contagem (MG) this Sunday (6), in the pre-launch of his candidacy to the national presidency of the PT.
In a document in support of Edinho, the resistance states that it “gathers the qualities necessary for the construction of the party unit around a collective strategy for the reelection of President Lula”.
“We understand that we are facing another historical crossroads: we need to reelect Lula and definitely defeat neo -fascism and ultraliberalism that insists on organizing Brazil, reaffirming the defense of our national sovereignty, democracy and the rights of the Brazilian people,” said the trend.
According to the current, this task will only be possible “with a party increasingly present in the territories, which prioritizes the social struggle, which has capacity for renewal, mobilization and unity of action.”
“We believe in the construction of a PT that walks organically with social movements and democratic, humanist and socialist causes,” he writes. “We argue that we deepen in the PT democratic, militant relations and the deep respect for party status.”
The resistance has names such as Senator Rogério Carvalho (SE), in addition to 10 other federal deputies, and is the second largest trend in the House and Senate bench.
