Papal car used by Francis during his visit to Israel and Palestinian territories in 2014will have diagnostic and treatment equipment and will help small patients in the Palestinian enclave. The medical services there are devastated as a result of Israeli attacks.
The modification of the vehicle František, who died on April 21, entrusted the Catholic humanitarian organization Caritas Jerusalem several months before his death, Vatican said. “It’s not just a vehicle. It is a message that the world has not forgotten children in Gaza. This is a concrete, life -saving step at a time when the health system in Gaza almost collapsed,” said Peter Brune, CEO, CECRETAR OF CARITAS SWEDEN, who supports the initiative for Vatican News.
The mobile unit will also be equipped with speeds on infections, vaccines, diagnostic tools and sewing kits and will work in health staff. Caritas plans to send this clinic to communities without access to functioning medical facilitieswhen it is possible to provide humanitarian access to the Gaza band.
A small Christian community lives in the Palestinian enclave. The Vatican said that Francis called almost daily to the Church of the Holy Family in Gaza during the war, which began in October 2023 after the attack of Palestinian militants on South Israel.
