PL parliamentary was accused of adopting conduct incompatible with parliamentary decorum after statements considered offensive against Gleisi Hoffmann, Minister of Institutional Relations
The Council of Ethics and Parliamentary Decorus of the gathers on Tuesday (6) to analyze the request for precautionary suspension of the mandate of the deputy (PL-ES) for six months. He is accused of adopting conduct incompatible with parliamentary decorum. The meeting is scheduled for 11am, but the plenary has not yet been defined. According to the representation of the Board of Directors, Gilvan would have broken the decorum by making statements considered “severely offensive and defamatory” against the licensed deputy, current minister of institutional relations.
The complaint points to abuse of parliamentary prerogatives and behavior incompatible with the dignity of the mandate. The episode took place on April 29, during a meeting of the Public Security and Combating Organized Crime Commission. At the time, Gilvan made insinuations considered outrageous and derogatory against Gleisi Hoffmann and also involved in a discussion with the deputy (PT-RJ).
According to the document signed by the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), Gilvan’s lines “exceeded the constitutional right to freedom of expression, constituting abuse of parliamentary prerogatives and offending the dignity of the House, its members and other public authorities”. The rapporteur of the case is Deputy Ricardo Maia (MDB-BA). After the initial analysis, the process will continue to instruction and may result in the definitive loss of the mandate.
