Eiffel Tower is illuminated with the colors of Brazil during a visit from Lula to Paris

The Eiffel Tower was illuminated with green and yellow, in reference to the official visit of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to France. The tribute occurred at the beginning of the agenda of the Brazilian President in Paris, where he meets diplomatic and commercial commitments.

Lula arrived in the French capital at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron. During the state visit, the two presidents should sign about 20 bilateral agreements in the areas of vaccine, public safety, education and science and technology.

The chief executive also reported that meetings with Macron should include topics such as the war between Russia and Ukraine, the conflict in Gaza, the Mercosur European Union agreement and the defense cooperation, especially the submarine development program.

On Friday (6), Lula will receive the title of Doctor Honoris causa from Paris University 8 and will be honored in an official session of the French Academy. According to records of the institution, only 19 heads of state have received the tribute to this day. The only Brazilian before Lula was Dom Pedro II, in 1872.

Also in France, the president will participate in the Brazil-France Economic Forum, will visit the exhibition about the year of Brazil in France, and should participate in the opening of the Brazilian cultural season, which will have activities in more than 50 French cities until September.

Following the trip, Lula will go to Toulon, where he will meet with Macron at the local naval base. Visits to Lyon are also planned, where he must know the headquarters of Interpol, and Nice, where he will participate in the third UN conference on the oceans. On Sunday (8), Lula was invited to an event about Blue Economy in Monaco.

Back in Brazil, the president should receive Caribbean leaders at the Brasil-Caribe summit, scheduled for June 13, in Brasilia. He was also invited to attend the G7 meeting in Canada, June 15-17, but still evaluates the presence.
