Four people have lost their lives and eight others are missing after the landslide caused by intensive downpour in the province of Che-PEJ in the north of China. Thousands of other people had to leave their homes for unusually intense precipitation, the local authorities and the media reported on Monday, TASR writes, according to AFP report.
The landslide occurred in a village located near the town of Čheng-te in the aforementioned province, which surrounds the capital of Beijing. North of China is experiencing heavy rainfall in recent days, and several areas were flooded.
In the province of Che-Pi, two people were killed on Saturday due to record rainfall. More than 4,600 people have evacuated in the Fu-Pching district there. In the neighboring province of the chance, there was a bus accident during the downpours, with at least one person perished and another 13 are missing. Roads and fields are flooded.
More than 3,000 people were evacuated from the Mi-Jün neighborhood in the suburbs of Beijing. The local water reservoir has recorded the largest flood tidth wave since its construction more than 60 years ago. In the capital, the highest level of warning against the risk of floods and the second highest before the downpours. According to meteorologists, it is expected to persist intensively by Tuesday morning.
