In a statement, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) spoke of defending the Pix from “any attempted privatization” and stressed that “defending sovereignty is defending Brazil”
“Pix is from Brazil, is public, free and will continue like this,” he said.
President Lula’s pronouncement occurred on the eve of the September 7 holiday, when Brazil celebrates the 203 years of the country’s declaration of independence from Portugal.
