At least one person has died and 25 have been injured, three of them seriously and two potentially serious, for an explosion of gas recorded this Saturday at Puente de Vallecas, in Madrid. The deflagration, which occurred at around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at number 3 on Manuel Maroto street, has affected a commercial premises converted into housing, to the building located on him and the bar my treasures, located next door. The head of the Fire Department of the Madrid City Council, Carlos Marín de la Bárcena, explained that it is a gas explosion, but that they still cannot specify the type of gas, the cause or where exactly has occurred.
Firefighters have located the deceased person last morning, a 52 -year -old man, after conducting a new search with the canine unit of the National Police at the place of the explosion, as he has detailed emergencies. The victim was under a meter of sand and rubble.
The building has been evicted and the vice mayor of Madrid, Immaculate Sanz, has affirmed that it is likely that the residents of the nine homes of the block, with three floors, have to be realized several days, since “there have been important conditions to the forged between the zero and the first floor”. According to the Delegate of Security and Emergencies, the City Council is working with Samur Social to offer a housing alternative to those affected who may need it. Consistory technicians must now make an integral assessment of the property.

Firefighters, who are performing the tasks of de -stroke by hand because the instability of the building makes machinery use dangerous, have rescued four people from under the helmet. Sanz has pointed out that the body has already delayed a good part of the place and, therefore, “it seems that it is ruled out” that there are more trapped.
In the block, as the neighbors have reported to the Police, 11 families resided in total: three per plant, the couple of the premises that has exploded and another family that inhabited in a house that had risen in the inner courtyard of the property, to the bottom of the portal.
The most affected part has been the commercial bass converted in housing. The neighbors of the building say that there is a couple who reformed the premises six months ago with the owner’s consent to give the portal out and install a fence in what was the entrance from the street. The explosion has cast down one of the rooms of that house, the wall that separated it from the portal, much of the portal and one of the walls of the bar.

A witness has reported how the explosion “has caught” the car that circulated just behind him and that at the time of deflagration passed ahead of the bass: “The fence has come on top, which has been shot, and the sofas from inside. That is why it has been so damaged to the other side of the street.” Due to the subsequent “confusion” and smoke, you cannot add anything from the driver’s state. Nor does he know if the tenants of the bass were in the place at that time. He claims to have seen the neighbor of the portal in front of the wounded leg and the Samur vending it later.
Another face -to -face witness has assured that the bar was full of people and that, in the first moments after the explosion, all those who were in the vicinity “have dedicated themselves to helping those who were inside.” Both witnesses agree that “there was a strong smell of gas.”
The Madrid mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has moved through the social network X his “support” to the injured and their families. “We are pending the situation in Puente de Vallecas. Our emergency teams work tirelessly with 18 endowments of, including canine unit, and air support for drones,” he tweeted.
The PSOE spokeswoman at the Madrid City Council, Reyes Maroto, has also expressed in the same social network her “support” to those affected and thanked emergency services “their rapid intervention.”
