ΕΕ – Κίνα: Ευρωπαϊκό σχέδιο για κυρώσεις – «Επίθεση γοητείας» στον Τραμπ

A new package against her, which will be presented later during the day, was approved by the Commission Chief spokesman Paula Pinio. The details will be presented by the President and Head of European Diplomacy, Kaya Calas, at a press conference later in the day.

Energy spokesman Anna-Kaisa Iconen has referred to countries that still import Russian gas either through pipelines or through LNG, clarifying that the Union does not have complete data on the final fuel destination.

States that still introduce Russian gas

In total, eight member states remain in this category: Belgium, France, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain. This development is considered key, as it intensifies the dissatisfaction of US President Donald Trump, who is pushing the EU and NATO to completely stop imports of Russian energy.

At the same time, sources from Brussels have revealed that the Commission plans to propose a complete ban on imports of Russian LNG from January 1, 2027, that is, a year earlier than initial planning.

It is recalled that the majority of Member States have pledged to terminate the imports of Russian mineral fuels by the end of 2027, a goal that von der Layen has expressed the intention of further speeding up.
