You don’t have to completely give up cakes while on a diet. You can prepare healthier alternatives of traditional baking and without flour and without white sugar. This is what the oat apple pie is. It will come out so good that it will disappear from the plate in the blink of an eye. We present a simple recipe for this.

A traditional apple pie is made on fragile or semi -circular dough, which is made of white flour. It is this ingredient that does not provide nutritional value, but empty calories. It is worth replacing it with healthier substitutes. In question?

Baked wheat flour can be replaced with whole grain flour, e.g. spelled or gluten -free flour, i.e. almond or buckwheat. We will successfully make a shortcake with them. We will also prepare a crunchy bottom with oatmeal. We also recommend using them for crumble.

Oat apple pie will also be healthier when we replace white sugar with xylitol or erythritol. Remember, however, that these substitutes are less sweet, so it’s worth increasing their amount in the cakes a bit.

As already mentioned, the oat apple pie consists of the bottom of oatmeal, but also of apple filling enriched with spicy spices. We also make crumble in a healthier version.

What ingredients do we need to make oat apple pie?

Ingredients for the bottom:

  • 2 cups of oatmeal;
  • 6 dried dates;
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter.

Ingredients for apple filling:

  • 1 kg of apples;
  • 1 tablespoon of butter;
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice;
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon;
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves.

Ingredients for crumble:

  • 1 cup of oatmeal;
  • 1 cup of ground oatmeal;
  • 100 g of cold butter;
  • 100 g xylotol or erythritol.
  1. At the beginning we make a filling for oat apple pie: Peel apples, removed from them seed nests and cut them into small pieces. Then we sprinkle the fruit with cinnamon and cloves and stew on low heat in butter until they soften. Set aside to cool and add lemon juice.
  2. In the next step, we prepare the oatmeal: Pour oat flakes into the blender, add dates and pour in butter. Blend the whole so that a moist mass with the consistency of wet sand is formed.
  3. Then we take the crumble: We combine oatmeal with butter and sweetener. We rub the whole until lumps form. Put the prepared crumble in the fridge.
  4. Form with a diameter of 24 cm lined with baking paper is covered with oat oat – both the bottom and the sides to half the height. We put an apple filling on it and level it with a spoon. Finally, sprinkle with crumble.
  5. We bake oatmeal in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius for 35-40 minutes.
