The Court of Justice of Santa Catarina determined that businessman Luciano Hang, owner of Havan stores, must pay compensation of just over R$33,000 to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for moral damages. The analysis is by Pedro Venceslau in CNN 360º.
The court decision is related to a track financed by Hang a year after the elections, characterized as a provocation. The episode adds to a series of controversies involving the businessman over the past few years.
During the 2018 election period, Hang maintained a strong presence on social media, carrying out a kind of digital reality show with constant appearances. “His publications often contained content considered offensive to public figures and authorities,” says Venceslau.
The analyst highlights that, currently, businessmen adopt a more reserved stance, focusing mainly on managing their businesses and significantly reducing their public exposure and political demonstrations.
“The businessman also faced legal proceedings for pressuring employees during the 2018 electoral period”, says Venceslau. Videos showed occasions in which Hang gathered employees to ask former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to vote, resulting in fines.
Hang became the target of investigations by the Federal Police related to possible financiers of undemocratic acts. However, the investigations did not progress and he was not included among those responsible for financing the events of January 8th.
