More than 500 people live on the streets in Acre; number is the highest in the last 8 years

A study produced by the Citizenship Hubs program, at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), shows that 557 people live on the streets throughout Acre. The data was collected until October this year.

Of this total, 481 are in the capital of Acre, and the rest are distributed throughout the interior of the State.

On the national scene, Acre and the capital Rio Branco occupy 25th place, ahead of Tocantins and Amapá (with their respective capitals).

The study indicates that this is the highest rate recorded in Acre since 2018, when the survey began and only 182 people were homeless. The lowest number was seen in 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
