Sabalenka ends season as No. 1 in the WTA rankings

Belarusian ends the year with an advantage of 2,475 points over the number 2 in the world, the Polish Iga Swiatek

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka broke the record for prize money in a single season on the WTA circuit (US$15,008,519, around R$80 million at the current price)

The Belarusian finished the 2025 season as number one in the world for the second year in a row, according to the WTA rankings released this Monday (10), shortly after the WTA Finals. As proof of her dominance, she ends the year with a 2,475 point lead over the world number 2, Poland’s Iga Swiatek. Despite losing the tournament final to Kazakh Elena Rybakina on Saturday (8), the 27-year-old tennis player achieved the most victories. There were 63 in the year. Numbers that made her break the record for prize money in a single season on the WTA circuit (US$15,008,519, around R$80 million at current prices).

As of 2025, Sabalenka has won four titles, including a Grand Slam (US Open), and reached the finals of two other majors (Australian Open and Roland Garros). Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia occupies 58th place.
