Case auditor Bruno Henrique tries to become a judge – 11/11/2025 – Panel

Responsible for the attacker’s request for a view at the (Superior Court of Sports Justice), auditor Marco Aurélio Choy has been campaigning in recent months to become a judge at the Court of Justice of Amazonas.

Attorney for the municipality of Manaus, Choy is in the running to join the six-fold list of the Amazonian section of the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) for the fifth constitutional position of the state court.

The list is forwarded to the TJ-AM judges, who then reduce it to three names. Finally, Governor Wilson Lima (União Brasil) will decide who will be the new member of the court.

The Constitution determines that 20% of state court judges come from the OAB or the Public Ministry, which is known as the constitutional fifth.

The lawyers’ vote is scheduled for December 19. Choy was already president of the state OAB for two consecutive terms, from 2016 to 2021.

He became embroiled in controversies during the campaign. In one of them, he challenged the registration of the former secretary of Wilson Lima’s Civil House, Flávio Antony, who was dismissed from state management to run for the position as the governor’s candidate. OAB-AM rejected Antony’s registration and the matter was taken to court, with a recent unfavorable decision for the former secretary.

In another controversy, lawyer Hamilton Lucena refused to greet Choy and said he did not consider him a loyal person. The competitor was bothered by the STJD auditor’s strategy of being present when other candidates registered to gather votes.

Bruno Henrique’s trial at the STJD should initially resume on Thursday (13). In September, he was punished with a 12-game suspension and a R$60,000 fine. Since then, he has played for Flamengo based on a suspension effect.

At the time of Choy’s request for a review, the player had already received a favorable vote from the case’s rapporteur, Sérgio Furtado Coelho, who proposed a fine of R$100,000 and absolution from the suspension.

The player is on trial on suspicion of having shared advance information about receiving a yellow card in Flamengo’s match against Santos, in 2023, to benefit a sports betting scheme involving friends and family.
