The minister said that “talks with TerraPower, the company founded by Bill Gates, for the development of small nuclear facilities are ongoing” and emphasized that “the plan envisages the installation of small power plants with a total capacity of at least 5,000 MW by the middle of the century”.
Who is the Turkish government talking to?
TerraPower LLC is a Bellevue, Washington-based company specializing in advanced nuclear reactor technology, primarily new generation fast reactors. Bill Gates is the founder and chairman of the board, while he remains one of the main financiers of the company.
In addition to Gates, TerraPower is financially supported by major international investors such as South Korea’s SK Group, NVIDIA’s investment arm (NVentures), HD Hyundai, as well as the US Department of Energy through the Advanced Reactor Promotion and Demonstration Program (ARDP).
Although Gates’ role was instrumental in the company’s creation and remains central, TerraPower’s structure also includes other private investors and corporate structures.
