Botafogo x Pachuca: how it was
With Alex Telles, Marlon Freitas, Savarino and Almada rested, Botafogo faced difficulties in technically imposing themselves on Pachuca, who pressed and made it difficult for the opponent to get the ball out. Glorioso tried to counterattack using long balls, resulting in a truncated game, without great emotions in its first stage.
In Botafogo’s arrivals, mainly in conclusions from Ponte, Luiz Henrique and Matheus Martins, the team was unable to finish with quality. On the other side, with Rondón running into the Rio defence, the opportunities created with Pachuca’s teammates did not create any major problems for John either.
At the beginning of the second half, Botafogo started disorganized, making mistakes when passing the ball, which opened up space for Pachuca to open the scoring with a great goal from Idrissi, who broke through the opponent’s defense before shooting hard at John’s corner.
Little by little, Botafogo began to organize itself in the match, mainly with the entry of its starters. However, despite maintaining possession of the ball and circulating the Pachuca area, Glorioso became vulnerable to counterattacks.
At 20, after an error in the ball, Pachuca increased the score. Pedroza stole the ball, passed it to Deossa on the left, who dodged the defender and shot hard at John, who accepted it.
With the loss on the scoreboard, Botafogo started to put pressure on Pachuca. However, the Mexican team closed down, which made it difficult for Glorioso to arrive.
On the counterattack, Pachuca killed the game at 34. From the right, Deossa advanced, turning the game over to Idrissi, who was late for Rondón to make the first kill.
