Company exceeded target and reached 44,000 promotions in November. Opportunity for advancement is the most valued factor in the job search
Bruno Henrique da Silva Souza joined in November 2013, at the age of 22. He started as a Quality Assurance assistant at the Andradina (SP) unit. From an early age, the employee’s sense of leadership caught attention. Bruno was encouraged to develop to take on management positions.
After 3 years, he was approved to participate in the company’s Internal Talent Program, where he prepared to work as a Production supervisor. He then became Management System supervisor in Itapetinga (BA). In this position, he worked at the Diamantino (MT) and Barra do Garças (MT) units. In the last unit, he rose to Production Coordinator. In August 2024, in a new promotion, he took on the position of Industrial manager in Ituiutaba (MG).
Bruno Henrique is one of the 44,000 JBS professionals who received some position promotion until November this year. In January, the company publicly committed to promoting 40,000 professionals. However, this mark was surpassed before the end of the year. According to data from JBS, the number of promotions in the first 11 months of 2024 represented double that recorded in the same period last year.
JBS is the largest private employer in the country, according to the (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas). The company has 158 thousand employees in 130 units spread across the country.
“I am immensely grateful to the company for always giving me the support to develop and grow professionally. Being promoted means being recognized for a job done and motivates me to face the challenges of the new role. And, in the future, dream about a new promotion”, said Bruno Henrique.

Career development
Working in a company that offers opportunities for professional development is something that people increasingly value. According to the , carried out by the consultancy, Brazilian workers attach more importance to career progression than to attractive salaries and benefits. The result was verified in the last 3 editions of the study.
The research showed that the opportunity for professional advancement is the 1st factor that Brazilians consider when choosing the company where they will work. In 2nd place come salary and benefits. The opposite, that is, the lack of growth prospects, is one of the main motivators for changing jobs.
For Deyvdson Lima, 35 years old, the possibility of professional growth was decisive in his decision to work at JBS in 2012. “I had just left a leadership position at another company, but I agreed to return to operations at JBS because I knew I would have many opportunities for growth”he stated. In 12 years working at the company, Deyvdson was promoted 4 times – from Production operator to Industrial manager in Itapetinga (BA).
“Anyone who works in a company that recognizes good professionals stops caring only about the current situation. You start to worry more about training yourself and preparing yourself to take on greater responsibilities”, stated Deyvdson.
Professional appreciation
The professionals promoted by JBS in 2024 represent almost a third of the company’s total employees. “At JBS, our mission is to be the best and guarantee the opportunity for a better future for our more than 158 thousand employees. Training them and giving them the opportunity to grow professionally is sure to give their families a better future.”said Fernando Meller, executive director of Human Resources at JBS Brasil.
Meller explains that the commitment made at the beginning of the year is a way of valuing the company’s professionals, ensuring that they have the best job opportunities. “This is the best way to recognize the people who dedicate themselves daily to building an increasingly better company”said the HR director.
According to him, a company’s results improve the greater the experience of its professionals – hence the importance of recognizing them, giving them the opportunity to grow together with the company.

Transformed lives
Promotions represent more than career advancement. They also open doors to a better life for employees and their families. “When we promote 44,000 professionals, we are giving 44,000 families the opportunity to have a better future,” Meller said. And he adds: “These are opportunities for more income, more security, more education, which transform people’s lives”.
According to Deyvdson, since joining JBS, his life has improved. In 12 years, the Industrial manager managed to buy his first car and his first house. Today, he plans to make a down payment on a larger property. “My children, aged 12, 10 and 4, study in good schools and I give them a life with a much better perspective than I had when I was a child”he said.
For Bruno Henrique, who has a 3-year-old son, improving his family’s life is one of the motivations for working. “The personal motivation to work better is to be able to give our children more than we had. And I will fight harder and harder to give even more”. The path to achieving this objective is outlined: “Since joining JBS, I told my director that my goal has always been to grow. Now I want to consolidate myself as an Industrial Manager and, in the future, take a step and become a directr,” he said.
