Isaltino Morais at the Gouveia e Melo rally
Gouveia e Melo is “an exemplary man and “a beacon of hope.” And the prime minister would like to support his candidacy.
The president of the Chamber of Oeiras considered that the Prime Minister would like to support Gouveia e Melo’s candidacycriticized party discipline and attacked “the cupcake” with a “liberal package” and the “proto-dictatorzeco”.
Isaltino Morais He was the penultimate speaker at the first rally of Gouveia e Melo’s presidential campaign, at the Teatro Diogo Bernardes, in Ponte de Lima.
He gave an intervention lasting around 20 minutes in which, basically, he intended to show himself in tune with the leader of the executive, Luís Montenegro, and in which, on the other hand, he criticized the main opponents of the former Chief of Staff of the Navy in the race for Belém.
The mayor began by defining Gouveia e Melo as “a man exemplar and “one beacon of hope”, arguing that “only leadership by example can unite the Portuguese”.
Then, he recalled that “a few weeks ago the prime minister advocated that the Portuguese should have the attitude of Cristiano Ronaldo”.
“Well, here we are with our Ronaldo, Admiral Gouveia e Melo. I really have to the Prime Minister himself – and I am not ironic – would like to be here todaybecause he likes to be among the best”, he declared, before launching a harsh attack on Cotrim Figueiredo.
“Voting for the liberal package is voting for cakes privileged people who only during the campaign come down to the people and kiss the poor. On campaign they dance with old ladies, hug the poor and kiss everything, even if necessary, they kiss dogs. After the campaigns, they don’t get their shoes dirty, they vibrate again in the halls of Lisbon and to hell with the poor”, he stated, receiving a prolonged round of applause.
After Cotrim Figueiredo, the mayor of Oeiras aimed Andre Ventura asking the following questions: “What does it have to offer besides instilling hatred towards others? What does it have to offer as a country project? Vote for a proto-dictatorzeco that betrays our history?”, he asked.
