Lula meets the elected president of Chile to deepen bilateral relations

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met this Tuesday night (27), for an hour and a half, with the elected president of Chile, José Antonio Kast, in Panama City, where the International Economic Forum of Latin America and the Caribbean is taking place. According to a note released by the Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom), both reiterated the importance of maintaining and deepening bilateral relations between Brazil and Chile, with a focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, renewable energy, trade and tourism.

According to Secom, Lula emphasized that the South American Integration Routes program is structuring two bioceanic corridors that will use Chilean ports to facilitate integration between Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile, strengthening regional connectivity.

The two leaders also spoke of the need to promote regional stability, reinforce public security and intensify joint actions to combat organized crime. And they instructed their foreign ministers to meet in the coming months with the aim of exploring new areas of cooperation and deepening bilateral relations.

At the meeting, Kast was accompanied by future ministers from his cabinet and Lula was accompanied by the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho and of Tourism, Gustavo Feliciano.
